Fees

Cornhusker Tech charges a flat rate of $48.00/hour, plus mileage, parts reimbursement (if applicable), and surcharges (if applicable), for on-site/house-call service. Off-site/drop-off service is billed on a service-by-service basis; please call for estimate.

 

Terms, Policies, and Surcharges

  • Timed billing will begin at the scheduled appointment time, or when Joel arrives, whichever comes later. Every effort will be made to arrive at the scheduled appointment time; if a previous appointment is going over, you will be notified and have the option to reschedule or cancel with no fees owed and no hassles. In the event Joel arrives and you are not ready for your scheduled appointment, billing will still begin at the scheduled appointment time. Please call at least an hour ahead if you need to change your appointment time.
  • A surcharge of $25.00 USD - $100.00 USD may be assessed for a house-call/on-site appointment to a home or workplace that smells of tobacco smoke. If this will be a problem, please call ahead to request off-site/drop-off service.
  • In the event that equipment to be serviced is sticky, greasy, or excessively unsanitary, a surcharge may be assessed, equipment may need to be cleaned as part of billed services, or services may be denied at no charge. Please ensure your equipment is clean prior to your service appointment. This includes, but is not limited to, sticky keyboard and mouse, dusty computer equipment or excessively dusty surroundings, food/drink residue, etc.
  • If you have animals in your home or workplace, please restrain them for the duration of your service appointment (preferably in another room). Otherwise, a fee may be assessed or on-site services denied at no charge, no matter how "friendly" your pet is. Animals may be a safety risk, as well as interfere with computer troubleshooting and repair tasks.
  • Standard fees of $48.00/hour will apply for technical support over the phone. Estimates, however, are free provided no actual troubleshooting is performed.
  • Cornhusker Tech does not troubleshoot speciaity software, including business applications. Troubleshooting is available for Microsoft or Apple system applications, as well as Mozilla software if installed by Cornhusker Tech. In all other cases, you will be required to contact the software publisher or vendor for assistance.
  • If you have e-mail services under your own domain name ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and subscribe to Qwest Internet services, you are responsible for contacting Qwest and ensuring that ports 110, 143, 465, 585, 587, 993, and 995 are opened. Otherwise, you may be unable to send or receive email from any address other than your Qwest-provided address or web-based e-mail services. If you use another ISP, such as Cox, RoadRunner, or Windstream, it is likely that these ports are already opened and functional. Cornhusker Tech has observed specific conflicts between private domain names and Qwest Internet services that are not issues with these other Internet service providers.
  • If you subscribe to dial-up Internet access, please notify Cornhusker Tech at least one day prior to your service appointment. In some cases, on-site/house-call service may not be available for dial-up users in the event software updating or installation is required.
  • Any required training will be regarded as a billable service.
