Website Development
Cornhusker Tech offers a website development service in conjunction with hosting products. This service is perfect for those who need a website and do not have the website development experience needed to start a site, or for those with website goals but no time to put a site together.
Step 1: Initial Design and Setup
Website setup fees start at $50, but a typical basic site will cost between $150 and $250. Fees vary based on number of pages, images, and complexity of design.
To begin the website setup process, a customer must contact Cornhusker Tech by e-mail or by phone in order to secure a domain name. If you already own a domain name, you are responsible for updating the domain name servers or requesting a transfer to Cornhusker Tech.
After the domain name is ordered or transferred, site setup can begin. The customer may e-mail files to Cornhusker Tech or burn files to a disc and mail them to Cornhusker Tech. For those without this ability, paper copies will be accepted but a fee of $3 per scanned page or 2¢ per word will apply. Under no circumstances will handwritten material be accepted.
One free in-person consultation is permitted with each website design package, but all work will be completed in a faster time frame if all communication and materials submission is conducted electronically. Under any circumstance, subsequent in-person consultations will be billed at $48.00 per hour.
For those desiring photo galleries, such as for a wedding or new baby, a $1.00 fee per image is assessed if the gallery is created by Cornhusker Tech using submitted images. Photo galleries can also be set up by the customer at no charge other than the website hosting fee.
All materials must be submitted within 21 days of confirmation of a design order, with a targeted 30-day total turnaround time.
Step 2: Search Engine Optimization
Cornhusker Tech is proud to offer SiteClimb™ to customers. Visit the SiteClimb™ page to learn more about this third-party service offered through Cornhusker Tech.
In addition, Cornhusker Tech supports the use of online advertising systems such as Google AdWords and Yahoo! Search Marketing. If assistance is required with configuring these systems, it will be billed at a rate of $48.00 per hour. For those needing assistance with ongoing management of keywords and budgeting, a rate of $20 per month is assessed for keyword management. This service includes the repeat accessing of your account (at your permission) in order to remain competitive in the fast-moving realm of online advertising.
Step 3: Ongoing Maintenance
When changes are needed, Cornhusker Tech has you covered. Rates are just $7.00 per updated page and $10.00 per new page. The same terms for submitted materials apply for ongoing maintenance as for new site setup: digital formats preferred; surcharges apply for printed/typed papers and handwritten material will not be accepted.
Those with frequent update needs may be interested in a monthly service plan:
Light ($24/mo) - Up to 4 changes per month. New pages will be billed as extra tasks (see below).
Basic ($30/mo) - Up to 4 changes per month including 2 new pages per month.
Medium ($36/mo) - Up to 6 changes per month including 3 new pages per month.
Active ($48/mo) - Up to 8 changed pages per month including 4 new pages per month.
Power User ($60/mo) - Up to 10 changed pages per month including 6 new pages per month.
6-month commitment minimum for all maintenance plans. Early termination will result in a fee equal to the remaining time left until 6 months are completed. Rates for additional work exceeding package quota will be assessed at the standard ongoing maintenance rate.
For those who prefer to update their own sites, Cornhusker Tech recommends Adobe® Contribute™ CS3. Customer is responsible for purchasing, installing, and registering the software on their own computer. FTP info will be provided. Changes made using Contribute™ do not count against the monthly quota, for those using a monthly maintenance service plan.
If technical support for Contribute™ is required, it will be billed to the customer at the rate of $48 per hour. Cornhusker Tech is not responsible for any loss of data or damage to customers' websites due to self-service editing using Contribute™. If a site is damaged beyond repair, Cornhusker Tech is under no obligation to fix it but may be able to restore it to its original post-setup phase for a one-time fee of $75.00.
Additional Services
Custom software/scripts
$48/hour. Cornhusker Tech will contact the customer for confirmation prior to beginning work. If the requested work order cannot be completed as requested, no fee will be assessed. Commercial (for-pay) software will be billed to the customer at the software purchase price plus a 15% handling fee and all labor costs at the rate of $48/hr. Minimum charge $15.00.
Additional Consultations
Submission of materials electronically is always preferred for fastest service and turnaround time, but instances may arise where an in-person meeting is needed. The first such meeting is covered as part of the package setup costs, and additional meetings are billed at 50.5¢ per mile if outside of the local area*.
This fee structure helps keep prices low by allowing you, the customer, to only pay for what you use -- rather than pay exorbitant rates and only use a portion of what you paid for. Other companies might claim to have free consultations anytime, but will charge you a base rate of $600 or more. Payment Terms
Payment accepted via check or PayPal (subject to handling charge if credit card payment is used). All invoices have a 20-day grace period, after which a 10% finance charge will be compounded monthly. Services will be suspended until receipt of payment after 60 days of non-payment.
